Internationally-acclaimed photographer and author Horst Klemm has worked for 30 years in the competitive world of advertising winning numerous awards for international clients such as: BMW, Volkswagen, Daimler-Chrysler, Audi, Nissan, De Beers, Anglo American, SA Breweries, SA Airways, Nestle, Kentucky Fried Chicken, SA National Parks etc.

His expertise is also sought after by many well-known lodges in the safari and tourism industry. His life-long love affair with Africa, its people and its rich heritage are visible in the uniqueness of his photographs which make everyone of them a work of art. From his childhood in the German industrial city of Gera, Klemm has been fascinated by the exploits of early adventurers, explorers and traders who in the 19th century traversed the vast landscape of what was then known as “The Dark Continent”.

Klemm is an explorer-adventurer himself, having paddled a canoe up the far reaches of the Amazon with near fatal consequences. He has also crossed the Arabian Desert on a camel and penetrated the deep jungles of Papua New Guinea. A camera is his constant companion and much of his photographic work, be it landscape, physiognomy or animal close-ups, is often rendered in sepia which suggests the intrepid spirit of yesteryear’s adventures.
